Boris Savluc – Romanian Artist and Painter (1938 – 2011)

Boris Savluc was a Romanian artist. He was born on September 17, 1938 in Basarabia, Romania. After their land was taken by the communists, his parents moved frequently around Romania to avoid deportation. They finally settled in Transylvania, Brasov County, in the sixties. Boris spent the latter part of his life in Rasnov.

Boris started to paint in his adolescence, releasing his first paintings in 1954 while studying under Professor Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpana at the Fine Art Institute "Nicolae Grigorescu" (now known as the Bucharest National University of Arts). After that, he graduated from the Brasov School of Art under Professor Alexandrina Ghetie-Hilohi.

While Boris worked with various mediums, he mostly worked in watercolor, oil and pastels. During his artistic career he won local and national art competitions. However, it is generally considered that his most valuable work was done in the last 10 years of his life. His paintings hang in private collections in Europe and North America.

The Boris Savluc legacy and private collection is now managed by his family, who feel it is a duty and a privilege to publish and share his work.
